answer text <p>The welfare of young people in custody is extremely important. We make sure the YJB are appropriately staffed and funded to carry out the important work of keeping children safe. We will be setting out our plans to reform the way we manage young offenders in the coming weeks.</p><p> </p><p>The total funding allocated to the Youth Justice Board in each year since 2009/10 is in the following table. During this period the number of young people in custody has substantially fallen.
