<p>Through the 2015 Counter Extremism Strategy the Government is committed to tackling
extremism in all its forms and protecting our communities from the serious social
harms it causes. This includes defeating far right extremism.</p><p>We have:<br>
created a network of more than 240 civil society partners confronting extremism in
their communities - including 36 focused on countering far right narratives – through
the Building a Stronger Britain Together programme; <br> awarded over 160 grants
to fund additional security measures for places of worship across England and Wales
since 2016; <br> excluded and refused entry to the UK to known right wing extremists;
and <br> supported Local Authorities in tackling far-right extremism.</p><p><br>The
Home and Communities Secretaries will also co-chair roundtables on Islamophobia and
antisemitism in the new year, with part of the discussions focusing on the impact
of the far right on Muslim and Jewish communities</p><p>The independent Commission
for Countering Extremism is also supporting the Government to defeat the scourge of
extremism.</p>
