We will use all tools at our disposal to protect the UK and our interests from any Iran-linked threats.</p><p>I recognise the importance of tackling all threats to, and interference in, the functioning of our democracy and our civil society.</p><p>As I announced in this House on 1 November, the Prime Minister has asked me to lead a taskforce to drive forward work to protect UK democratic processes. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/11/2022 answer text <p>The Home Office does not hold the information which you have requested on the value of assets recovered under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA) from offenders who committed gambling related crimes.</p><p>The Home Office holds information on the value of assets recovered under POCA 2002 from offenders who committed other types of offences including fraud and money laundering. This data is included in the Asset Recovery Statistical Bulletin which is published every year.</p><p>Its latest release was in September 2022, covering the period between financial year 2016 to 2017 and 2021 to 2022 . answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/11/2022 answer text <p>As I stated to the House on 1 November, the Home Office works closely with Departments across Whitehall and with devolved Administrations to ensure that our national security is protected and that, in particular, those who have chosen to settle here are free to engage in our democratic society without fear of the regimes that they have tried to leave behind.</p><p>Through our excellent police forces and the agencies that work with them, we take a proactive approach to protecting individuals and communities from all manner of threats. Where we identify individuals who may be at heightened risk, we are front-footed in deploying protective security guidance and other measures where necessary.</p><p>The upcoming National Security Bill will strengthen our legal powers to deal with transnational repression. Coercion, harassment or intimidation linked to a foreign power that interfere with the freedoms of individuals will be criminalised under the new foreign interference offence in the Bill.</p><p>As I stated to the House on 1 November, I have asked officials to step up the work to ensure that our approach to transnational repression is robust, and I have asked our Department to review our approach to transnational repression as a matter of urgency. To ensure their protection from financial fraud, the Government has taken various steps.</p><p>We have sanctioned the banning of cold calls from personal injury firms and pension providers, unless the consumer has explicitly agreed to be contacted and we have introduced director liability for companies who make nuisance calls. Through the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we have imposed strict obligations on organisations that make direct marketing calls, live or automated, to individuals in the UK. Improvements to the existing system are being made on an ongoing basis as part of the upgrade.</p><p>We have already improved the victim experience by enhancing the technology and increasing the staff numbers in the call centre. We will launch a new Action Fraud website in 2023. The National Economic Crime Victim Care Unit, which is being rolled out nationally, provides specialist support to fraud and cybercrime victims.</p><p>As part of the Police Uplift Programme, 725 posts have been dedicated to tackling Serious Organised Crime including fraud. Police and Crime Commissioners and Chief Constables will decide how to allocate further resource they receive through the Programme within their forces.
