This included a number of measures to adjust outdated and overly restrictive rules to enable the land-based sectors to thrive sustainably. The reforms strike a balance between respecting the choices of people who gamble safely, and ensuring those that are at risk of gambling harm and addiction are protected and safeguarded.</p><p>The white paper proposed a raft of changes which will benefit the land-based sector, including a reform of outdated restrictions on gaming machine supply and modernisation of payment methods across the land-based sector. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/09/2023 answer text <p>Many people experience loneliness and social isolation, and across government, we’re committed to building a more connected society, where everyone is able to build meaningful relationships. Having strong social relationships play an important role in our physical and mental wellbeing, and local councils, health systems and voluntary and community sector organisations all have an important role to play in tackling loneliness. Local services can achieve better outcomes in tackling loneliness by working together and building a shared understanding of the local community’s needs and assets.</p><p>The government is working with partners to support local areas to share and learn from best practice examples. This includes working with the Local Government Association to provide <a href="https://www.local.gov.uk/sites/default/files/documents/combating-loneliness-guid-24e_march_2018.pdf" target="_blank">guidance on how local councils can tackle loneliness</a>, and providing a space for organisations to share resources on the <a href="https://tacklinglonelinesshub.org/" target="_blank">Tackling Loneliness Hub</a>. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/07/2023 answer text <p>The department meets regularly with the gambling industry and its representatives, where this issue has previously been raised.</p><p>Data provided to the Commission by some of the largest gambling companies shows that those firms approve, process and fulfil around 99% of customer withdrawal requests within 24 to 48 hours of the request being made. However, problems with withdrawing funds from gambling accounts remain the most common topic raised by people contacting the Gambling Commission’s Contact Centre.</p><p>The Commission’s licence conditions and codes of practice contain a number of provisions to ensure operators treat their customers in a fair and open way. These include new player protection checks, a stake limit for online slots games, improvements to consumer redress and a statutory levy on operators to fund research, education and treatment.</p><p>We are working with the Gambling Commission and other stakeholders to bring these measures into force as soon as possible, subject to further consultation where appropriate.
