The responsibility of providing this access lies at Local Authority level, and the Government continues to encourage Local Authorities to support swimming facilities.</p><p>At the Budget, we announced a dedicated £63 million support package for swimming pools, which is targeted at addressing cost pressures facing public swimming pool providers. It will also help provide investment in energy efficiency measures to reduce future operating costs and make facilities sustainable in the long-term. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/06/2023 answer text <p>The Government recognises the vital role that youth services and activities play in improving the life chances and wellbeing of young people.</p><p>We have guaranteed that by 2025, every young person in England will have access to regular clubs and activities, adventures away from home and volunteering opportunities. This is supported by over £500 million of investment in youth services.</p><p>As part of the National Youth Guarantee, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport is providing over £16 million to Uniformed Youth Organisations, including Girlguiding, to support them to tackle their waiting lists and create more opportunities for young people to participate in these groups.</p><p>As an independent organisation it is for Girlguiding to set its own policy. Utility companies, banks and other service providers should, and in many cases do, recognise the varying communication needs of their customers but there is always scope for them to do more.</p><p>The Equality Act 2010 provides strong protection for older people, from discrimination because of age and disability. This includes protection from indirect discrimination, which can happen where, for example, a service provider treats some of its younger customers the same but in doing so disadvantages its older customers. While every case is different and subject to an “objective justification” test, using purely electronic communication could amount to indirect discrimination because of age and/ or disability and companies need to be aware of that.</p><p>A person who feels that they have experienced age discrimination may contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS), the government helpline established to provide free bespoke advice and in-depth support to individuals with discrimination concerns. The EASS can be contacted via their website -<a href="http://www.equalityadvisoryservice.com/" target="_blank"> http://www.equalityadvisoryservice.com/</a>, by telephone on 0808 8000082 or text phone on 0808 8000084. The EASS has the ability to intervene on an individual’s behalf with a service provider to help resolve an issue. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/06/2023 answer text <p>The Equality Act 2010 states that it is unlawful direct discrimination for an employer to treat a disabled employee less favourably than one who does not have a disability. This would include decisions on promotion within an organisation.</p><p>The 2010 Act additionally places a reasonable adjustment duty on employers that could be relevant to how a promotion exercise is conducted, for example ensuring job application forms are accessible to visually impaired employees and job interviews are accessible to the deaf or hard of hearing.</p><p>The 2010 Act also enables employers to take positive action to increase the number of senior managers who are disabled, where this is disproportionately low. For example, where two candidates are equally qualified for a role and one is disabled, positive action allows the employer to select the disabled candidate.</p><p>Where disabled employees, as defined under the 2010 Act, feel that they have been unfairly passed over for promotion, they may discuss their concerns with the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (Acas), which provides authoritative and impartial advice free to employees or employers in relation to employment discrimination issues via their website (http://www.acas.org.uk) and telephone helpline 0300 123 1100 or text relayservice to 18001 0300 123 1100. Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, the Government went above and beyond through the Sports Survival Package to provide unprecedented levels of financial support to sports clubs, including rugby union clubs, to ensure their survival.</p><p>The Government is clear that robust governance is essential to sustainable and successful sport. The respective National Governing Body is responsible for the governance of their sport. In the case of Rugby Union, the Government is working closely with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and Premiership Rugby League (PRL).</p><p>The Government shares the concerns of fans about where the game goes next, so has appointed two expert independent advisers to work with the RFU and PRL on their plans to secure the future of professional rugby union. This is supported by over £500 million of investment in youth services.</p><p>As part of the National Youth Guarantee, in October 2022 the Department for Culture, Media and Sport awarded an initial £1.5 million to kickstart the Uniformed Youth Fund, targeting less advantaged areas of the country, with a further £16.9 million of funding launched in November to tackle existing teenager waiting lists. To date, over 2,000 new places have been created for young people in uniformed youth groups across England.</p><p>We recognise that not being able to access essential kit can act as a barrier to those wishing to participate in sport. Sport England has a number of funds that can provide support in this instance, including the £20 million Together Fund which was set up to reduce the negative impact of coronavirus and help community groups working with priority groups.
