This Government is committed to ensuring that women and girls are able to participate
in sport and have access to high quality facilities.

The £30 million Lionesses
Futures Fund - made up of £25 million from the Government and £5 million from the
FA - will deliver up to 30 state of the art 3G artificial pitches across the country
with gold-standard provision for women and girls. These sites will be delivered by
the Football Foundation and include reserved peak-time slots, women and girls only
evenings and priority booking for women and girls’ teams to drive up opportunities
for women and girls to get into sport. These sites are estimated to create opportunities
to play for almost 8,000 unique female players.

Working with the Football Foundation
and Sport England, DCMS will closely monitor sites from the point of award until well
into their operational period. DCMS is working with Deloitte to conduct a robust impact
evaluation of these Lionesses Futures Fund sites as part of the wider Multi-Sport
Grassroots Facilities Programme. This will measure the extent to which the Fund has
delivered increases in participation among women and girls so that learning from these
interventions can be shared more widely.
