Topics are identified through an established topic selection process and formally referred to NICE by Ministers. Companies do not apply to NICE for an assessment and NICE does not grant applications. NIHR welcomes funding applications for research into any aspect of human health, including irritable bowel syndrome. It is not usual practice to ring-fence funds for particular topics or conditions.
