answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/06/2018 answer text <p>22q11.2 deletion syndrome is a disorder that involves many different areas of the body and the severity can vary among patients. 22q11.2 deletion syndrome is an integral part of the immunodeficiency section of the training curriculum for paediatric and adult immunologists. In addition, cardiac aspects of 22q deletion syndrome are specifically included in the curriculum for paediatric cardiology.</p><p> </p><p>There are 32 immunology centres accredited or working towards accreditation with the Quality in Primary Immunodeficiency Services programme including a number of paediatric immunology centres located across the United Kingdom, which provide services for patients affected by the disease. Since 2010 rates of survival from cancer have increased year-on-year. Around 7,000 people are alive today who would not have been had mortality rates stayed the same as in 2010.</p><p> </p><p>The Department invests £1 billion per year in health research through the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). NIHR cancer research expenditure has risen from £101 million in 2010/11 to £137 million in 2016/17. This constitutes the largest investment in a disease area. The NIHR is funding and supporting a range of research relevant to liver metastases. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/06/2018 answer text <p>Testing for Lynch syndrome has been recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as important in identifying genetic predisposition to bowel cancer, which could lead to better outcomes for patients through earlier diagnosis and treatment. Whilst Lynch testing is being carried out in some areas, we are aware that the NICE guideline is not being followed by all clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) meaning that some patients and their families are not receiving the test.</p><p> </p><p>The NICE guideline does not carry a funding direction and therefore commissioners (CCGs and NHS England) need to consider the implementation of the guidance alongside other priorities and any financial impact on pathology services and genetic testing services. Also, the NICE guidance recommends, but does not mandate, how healthcare professionals should apply the guidance to those diagnosed with bowel cancer. It is for the clinician to take this information into account (alongside individual circumstances and medical history) when determining the best course of action for the patient.</p><p> </p><p>NHS England will be working with CCG pathology service commissioners during 2018/19 to determine whether we can jointly develop a policy position relating to genetic testing for Lynch syndrome that takes in to account the NICE guidance and helps to ensure that patients and their families receive the test where appropriate.</p> answering member constituency Winchester answering member printed Steve Brine question first answered 14/06/2018 11:14:37 answering member 4067 label Biography information for Steve Brine

The total number of appointments for mammography offered to 5 June 2018 is 31,508, with younger women being invited directly rather than through the helpline.</p><p> </p><p>The link between calls and mammograms completed is complex and data cannot be compared directly. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/06/2018 answer text <p>In May 2018, Public Health England (PHE) published a stocktake which reported on oral health improvement programmes, commissioned by local authorities targeting zero to five years old in England.</p><p> </p><p>Of the 95% of local authorities who responded, the majority (77%) are commissioning oral health improvement programmes for zero to five year olds.</p><p> </p><p>The most commonly commissioned programmes are as follows: training for the wider professional workforce (71%); healthy food and drink policies (57%); supervised tooth brushing in early years and school settings (51%); targeted provision of toothbrushes and toothpaste (46%); integration of oral health into targeted home visits by health and social care workers (44%); local or national government policies used to improve oral health (30%); community fluoride varnish programmes (24%); community water fluoridation (14%) and peer support workers supporting oral health improvement (5%).
