Clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) are central partners in ICSs. CCGs will continue to be responsible for making commissioning decisions in an ICS. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/02/2019 answer text <p>On 14 November 2018, it was announced that flash glucose monitors will be available on prescription for every patient who qualifies for them, in line with National Health Service clinical guidelines.</p><p> </p><p>The Department has not made any representations to Abbott since.</p><p> </p><p>Clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) are responsible for commissioning diabetes services. In doing so, CCGs need to ensure that the services they provide are fit for purpose, reflect the needs of the local population, are based on the available evidence, and take into account national guidelines. They are also expected to take National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines into consideration when making their decisions.</p><p> </p><p>CCGs remain best placed to do this as they are clinically led organisations that have both the local knowledge and local accountability to make these complex commissioning decisions in the best interests of patients.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is committed to giving patients greater choice and control over how they receive their health care, and to empowering patients to shape and manage their own health and care.</p><p> </p><p>The Government publishes an annual Choice Framework to help patients understand the choices they can expect to have.
