The priority for NHS England has been to ensure that Capita provide a service that is stable and delivering safely for patients before the change takes place. Early service delivery issues in Primary Care Services England together with recent screening incidents have been the priority to ensure patient safety. The change required to remove the use of National Health Application and Infrastructure Services (NHAIS) is complex due to the aged architecture and local variations in how data is stored on each individual NHAIS database and the sensitivity of that information. In the meantime, NHS England has asked Sir Mike Richards to lead a review to improve the delivery of adult screening programmes, and will consider how current IT systems support the ambitions of the programmes.
