answer text <p>Pay rates for apprentices are set by individual trusts at local level. NHS Employers have issued interim guidance to National Health Service employers on pay for nursing associates suggesting employers pay an interim pay rate for new entrants of Band 3.</p><p> </p><p>Negotiations continue as part of the reform of the Agenda for Change contract to agree guidance on NHS apprentice pay at a national level, which will be decided by the NHS Staff Council.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Following an independent evaluation of extensive trials, the Government agreed NHS England’s recommendation to implement an improved ambulance performance framework in July 2017. All mainland ambulance services adopted the new standards by November 2017.</p><p> </p><p>The framework prioritises responses to the sickest patients while helping reduce long waits for ambulance responses, and ensures patients receive the response that they need the first time. Ambulance services are performing well as they adapt to the new system, and are demonstrating improving performance across the board on all measures.</p><p> </p><p>NHS England and NHS Improvement continue to support the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust to adapt to the new framework, including the review of staff rotas and vehicle fleets to include more double crewed ambulances which has resulted in increase in staff in some areas. The Trust is also working with local commissioners to create a joint plan to support improvements in performance and ensure adequate resources to deliver against the standards.</p>

answer text <p>The Department, working closely with Health Education England (HEE), NHS England, NHS Improvement and Skills for Care, is planning marketing campaigns to increase recruitment across the health and care system.</p><p> </p><p>The campaigns will set out the values and opportunities presented by a career in the National Health Service.</p><p> </p><p>The Department is also working with HEE and the university sector to ensure students continue to apply for nursing courses, including learning disability nursing courses, up to the end of clearing in September 2018.</p><p> </p><p>Further to the announcement of 9 May, the Government is considering the most effective way to implement the ‘golden hello’ incentive scheme for postgraduate nursing students.</p><p> </p><p>The current intention is that these payment incentives will be made available for future postgraduates who completed courses funded by loans in the 2018/19 academic year. The golden hello payments are anticipated to be contingent on these graduates working in specific fields of the health and care sector including mental health, learning disability and community, including district, nursing.</p><p> </p><p>The detail of the scheme is being developed by the Department. Officials will engage with stakeholders as part of finalising proposals; including determining whether it is in the best interests of the NHS to split out the numbers eligible for a payment determined by branch of nursing. The conclusions of this will inform assessments of the potential impact of such incentives.</p>

answer text <p>The Department has not made a formal assessment of the adequacy of access to European Union dialysis services for people travelling abroad after the United Kingdom has left the EU. However, we engage regularly with our partners in the National Health Service and industry on this matter.</p><p> </p><p>We understand the importance of maintaining reciprocal healthcare arrangements for people with chronic conditions. This is why we have been clear we want to continue participation in the European Health Insurance Card scheme, subject to a reciprocal deal with the EU. We will return to the rights of people not in scope by the end of the implementation period in future talks.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Department does not hold information centrally on the number of delays to the recruitment of overseas doctors as a result of visa restrictions.</p><p> </p><p>The Government recognises fully the contribution that international doctors working in the National Health Service make towards delivering the high quality compassionate care we all expect.</p><p> </p><p>But it is important that our immigration system works in the national interest, ensuring that employers look first to the United Kingdom resident labour market before recruiting from overseas.</p><p> </p><p>The Department and the Home Office are monitoring the operation of the cap on the number of Certificates of Sponsorship for Tier 2 (General) visas closely to ensure it continues to strike the right balance. The health sector continues to occupy the largest cohort of applications within the Tier 2 (General) limit, taking 39% of available Certificates within the cap in 2017/18.</p> more like this
