The government will review the exemption for milk drinks containing added sugar from the Soft Drinks Industry Levy in 2020. Given the nature of the Soft Drinks Industry Levy it would not be possible to extend it from drinks to food, a new tax would be required. The government does not have any plans to create such a sugar tax at this time.
