The coalition does not work with Assad. We remain focused on supporting the National Unity Government of Afghanistan as part of NATO's Resolute Support mission.</p><p>We have been learning tactical lessons of our operations in Afghanistan throughout the campaign. However, combat operations have only recently ceased, and our focus has been on a successful drawdown from the ISAF combat mission and transition to the NATO Resolute Support mission. We still have around 470 military personnel in Afghanistan, and we need to maintain our focus on supporting them.
