Friend, the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced an extra £410 million to address pressures on social care services, along with £84 million over 5 years to support up to 20 local authorities to improve their social work practice and decision-making, enabling them to work more effectively with the most vulnerable children and their families.</p><p>This builds on the £200 billion government has already made available to councils up to 2020 to provide services in the best interests of local residents, including those for children and young people.</p><p>The government will continue to work closely with the sector to consider long-term children’s services funding as part of the Spending Review.</p> answering member constituency Stratford-on-Avon answering member printed Nadhim Zahawi question first answered 01/03/2019 12:05:14 answering member 4113 label Biography information for Nadhim Zahawi

Pupils with special educational needs are recorded according to their primary type of need. The current types of need do not include a specific breakdown for dyslexia alone. These cases are expected to be recorded under ‘Specific Learning Difficulty’. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/11/2018 answer text <p>Decisions on adoption in England are made by local authorities based on children’s individual needs.</p><p>In 2016 the government published ‘Adoption – A vision for change’ which set out how we intend to radically redesign the whole adoption system in England – the structures, systems and workforce – to ensure we have the foundations in place to build lasting change.</p><p>We have enabled more children to be placed in stable homes earlier by requiring local authorities to consider a fostering for adoption placement wherever possible. We funded a significant growth in the use of innovative adopter-led matching through National Exchange Days and Adoption Activity Days. We have also introduced a new, quicker two-stage process for approving adopters.</p><p>The result has been that the average time taken from entering care to a child being placed with their adopted family has decreased since 2012-13 by 7 months to 14 months in 2017-18. question text	To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what guidance his Department has given schools on carrying out obesity checks on pupils.

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/06/2018 answer text <p>Schools are a vital part of the government’s plans to tackle childhood obesity, and the department encourages a healthy, balanced diet and healthy life choices through school funding, legislation and guidance.</p><p> </p><p>The Department for Education does not provide guidance to schools on the specific issue of carrying out obesity checks on pupils. However, Public Health England publishes resources to support families (Change4Life), schools (Our Healthy Year) and health professionals to address childhood obesity.</p><p> </p><p>The School Food Standards provide the legislative framework to ensure schools provide children with healthy food and drink options. We have recently doubled the Primary PE and Sport Premium to £320 million a year from the 2017-18 academic year. We have also established a £100 million healthy pupils capital fund to facilitate an improvement in children’s physical and mental health by increasing and improving access to and use of relevant facilities, such as kitchens, dining facilities, changing rooms and sports facilities.
