We are monitoring the situation in Kashmir closely and the Foreign Secretary has discussed the situation there with his Indian and Pakistani counterparts. Our emphasis is on encouraging the Governments of India and Pakistan to open channels of communication and engage in dialogue as a means to resolving differences. The pace and scope of any dialogue is for India and Pakistan to determine. We are in regular contact with the Governments of India and Pakistan. The Prime Minister has underlined the importance of resolving issues through dialogue to his counterparts in both India and Pakistan.
