answer text <p>Through the Getting Building Fund we are investing £900 million in a wide range of infrastructure projects to stimulate job creation, and support economic recovery. We have provided all Mayoral Combined Authorities and Local Enterprise Partnerships with a funding allocation and are working with them over the coming weeks to agree the projects which the Fund will support so that delivery can get underway as soon as possible.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Public hygiene is of the utmost importance, especially during the coronavirus pandemic, and enabling access to toilets safely is vital.</p><p>Government has made clear through COVID-19 guidance that public toilets, portable toilets and toilets inside premises should be kept open and carefully managed to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19.</p><p>The guidance outlines measures such as signs to promote good hygiene, providing suitable handwashing and hand drying facilities, and increasing frequency of cleaning facilities.</p><p>The Environment Minister and I recently wrote to local authorities with details on the guidance for reopening public toilets.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>Local government is an essential part of our response to COVID-19 and has mobilised to help us keep the country moving. We have been working together closely with councils to ensure they have the resources and support they need to support their communities. This has included issuing guidance, including:</p><ul><li>Guidance for local authorities on the Small Business Grants Fund and Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Fund was published by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy on GOV.UK on 24 March. answer text <p>Retail markets are part of the fabric of towns and cities across the country. With the current closure of outdoor and indoor markets, with the exception of market stalls which offer essential retail, such as grocery and food, Government has been working with key stakeholders in the retail markets industry to monitor the impacts of the current situation and explore what support is needed. This includes the National Association of British Market Authorities, with whom officials have active and ongoing engagement, including through the Retail Markets Forum on 4 May.</p><p>Self-employed market traders will be able to benefit from the support the Government announced on 26 March for the self-employed. The self-employed are eligible for a taxable grant worth 80 per cent of their average monthly profits over the last three years, up to £2,500 per month, through the coronavirus (Covid-19) Self-employment Income Support Scheme.</p><p>Eligible market stalls with a rateable value will also benefit from flat rate payments of £10,000 under the grant scheme for the retail, hospitality, and leisure sectors announced on 17 March 2020.</p><p>On 1 May 2020 the Business Secretary announced that a further up to £617 million is being made available to local authorities in England to allow them to provide discretionary grants. This additional Local Authority Discretionary Grants Fund is aimed at small businesses with ongoing fixed property-related costs but not liable for business rates or rates reliefs, including regular market traders who do not have their own business rates assessment.</p>

answer text <p>Government has committed to creating a UK Shared Prosperity Fund to succeed European structural funds, including the European Regional Development Fund. The UK Shared Prosperity Fund will bind together the whole of the UK, tacking inequality and deprivation across our four nations, including the North East of England.</p><p>Final decisions will be taken after a cross-Governmental Spending Review. In the meantime, officials have been working closely with interested parties whilst developing the fund, including a stakeholder event in Gateshead.</p> more like this
