As the Prime Minister said in her speech on 17 January 2017, we place huge value on maintaining the UK’s unique arrangements with Ireland and the friendly, cooperative relationship we’ve built in recent years. Maintaining the Common Travel Area with Ireland will be an important priority in the UK’s EU Exit talks ahead. It was formed before either the UK or Ireland was a member of the European Union. The family ties and bonds of affection that unite our two countries mean that there will always be a special relationship between us.</p><p>The Prime Minister met the Taoiseach in Dublin on 30 January and in London on 26 July 2016. In addition, the Secretary of State for Exiting the EU met with Irish Ministers, including the Taoiseach, Tanaiste, Foreign and Europe Ministers, in Dublin on 8 September. Most recently, the Chancellor the Exchequer had meetings in Dublin on 9 January.</p><p>During these meetings a range of issues were discussed, including the future of the UK-Ireland border after the UK leaves the EU. The open border for people and businesses has served us well. On 20 July, my first debate in my role as a minister at the Department for Exiting the European Union was a Westminster Hall debate on the EU Referendum and Gibraltar (https://hansard.parliament.uk/Commons/2016-07-20/debates/16072020000001/EUReferendumGibraltar). <br><br>The Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union and I met the Gibraltar Chief Minister on 12 September 2016 and I held a meeting with the Chief Minister and representatives of Gibraltar industry and trade unions on 1 November. <br><br>At a multilateral level, Minister for the Overseas Territories, Baroness Anelay and I met with leaders of the Overseas Territories on 2 November 2016 at the UK-Overseas Territories Joint Ministerial Council. As we approach the negotiations, we will carry on working closely with the Northern Ireland Executive, together with the Scottish and Welsh Governments, as work continues to ensure that we get the best possible deal for all parts of the United Kingdom.</p><p>To this end, the Prime Minister chaired Joint Ministerial Committee meetings with leaders of the Devolved Administrations on 30 January in Cardiff and on 24 October 2016 in London.</p><p>We have set up a new Joint Ministerial Committee on EU Negotiations, which brings together constituent parts of the United Kingdom to discuss issues stemming from the negotiation process which may impact upon or have consequences for the UK Government, the Scottish Government, the Welsh Government or the Northern Ireland Executive. The Department has a dedicated senior equalities champion who sits on the Department's Executive Board and provides an insight for all protected characteristics as well as an equalities network. DExEU has recently run mental health first aid training to ensure that support is in place should staff experience mental illness. The Department is committed to the steps established in the 2016 Talent Action Plan to help the Civil Service become the most inclusive employer in the UK.<br><br>Due to the small numbers of staff affected the Department is unable to release this information as disclosure would contravene one of the data protection principles.
