answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/05/2018 answer text <p>Ministers and senior officials from across Government have been engaging extensively with member states and our partners in the EU institutions to negotiate the best deal for the UK and the EU. The Ministry of Justice in particular has been engaging with its European counterparts on the practise rights of UK lawyers. We also continue to welcome Ministers from across Europe to the UK on a regular basis.</p><p>DExEU Ministers are working closely with colleagues across Government to ensure that we continue to discuss the implications of leaving the EU with a broad range of stakeholders, including the legal sector. For example, we work closely with BEIS who co-chair the government-industry Professional and Business Services Council and DEXEU Ministers met with the Law Society in April this year.</p><p>The Prime Minister has been clear that we are seeking the broadest and deepest possible partnership with the EU – covering more sectors and co-operating more fully than any Free Trade Agreement anywhere in the world today. We don’t want to discriminate against EU service providers in the UK and we wouldn’t want the EU to discriminate against UK service providers. We want to agree an appropriate labour mobility framework that enables UK and EU businesses and professionals to travel, and provide services in person and over the phone or internet. This will support the ability of UK lawyers to practise in EU Member States after EU exit.</p><p>We also want UK professional qualifications, including UK legal titles, to continue to be recognised across the EU in the future, and vice versa. The March European Council agreed guidelines for negotiations on our future relationship, which reference the desire of the EU27 to include ambitious provisions on the recognition of qualifications. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/05/2018 answer text <p>Earlier this year, the Prime Minister set out the UK’s vision for its future economic partnership with the EU at Mansion House and the Chancellor detailed how this would work for financial services during a speech at HSBC.</p><p> </p><p>We will be seeking a bold and ambitious free trade agreement between the UK and the EU. Such a deal will be of greater scope and ambition than any such agreement before it, so that it covers sectors crucial to our linked economies such as financial services. This will require detailed technical talks, but as the UK is an existing EU member state, both sides have regulatory frameworks and standards that already match, with full alignment on Day One of our exit.</p><p> </p><p>As the Prime Minister set out, we will not be seeking passporting, because we understand this is intrinsic to the single market of which we would no longer be member. Also, the Chancellor has been clear that a deal based on the EU’s existing third-country equivalence regimes would be inadequate for the scale and complexity of UK-EU trade.</p><p> </p><p>Instead, given the highly regulated nature of financial services, and our shared desire to manage financial stability risks, we will need a collaborative, objective framework that is reciprocal, mutually agreed, and permanent and therefore reliable for business.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has said that the principle of mutual recognition and reciprocal regulatory equivalence, provided it is objectively assessed, with proper governance structures, dispute resolution mechanisms, and sensible notice periods for market participants, could provide an effective basis for such a partnership.</p> answering member constituency Worcester answering member printed Mr Robin Walker question first answered 21/05/2018 15:02:28 answering member 4091 label Biography information for Mr Robin Walker

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/05/2018 answer text <p>The Prime Minister reaffirmed her commitments to the Northern Ireland and Ireland border in her speech at Mansion House, recognising the unique circumstances in Northern Ireland, and commitment to avoiding a hard border.</p><p> </p><p>The Joint Report also made clear that it is our intention to avoid a hard border and any physical infrastructure or related checks and controls between Northern Ireland and Ireland.</p><p> </p><p>We have pledged to translate all of the commitments made in the Joint Report we published with the EU Commission in December into a legally binding Withdrawal Agreement. This includes all of those on Northern Ireland and Ireland. We remain absolutely committed to doing so. We have always been clear that we will not agree anything that threatens the constitutional or economic integrity of the UK.</p><p> </p><p>We recognise the unique economic circumstances of Northern Ireland.
