answer text <p> </p><p>Under the proposed HS2 scheme, the station in the East Midlands will be separated by journeys to Birmingham and Sheffield by less than 20 minutes each. Fast and frequent shuttle services could connect Nottingham and Derby with the East Midlands Hub station with a journey time of just 12mins from Nottingham and 15mins from Derby.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Sir David Higgins' report, <em>HS2 Plus</em>, was published on 17<sup>th</sup> March. Government welcomes Sir David's recommendation that Phase Two should be considered holistically and integrated with classic rail investment. In order to deliver better connectivity we have now asked HS2 Ltd and Network Rail to explore a process for integrated development of Network Rail's plans with decisions on Phase Two of HS2. This will form part of Sir David Higgins' report in the autumn.</p><p> </p> more like this

Friend to my answer of 7 July 2014 <em>[Official Report, column 167W]</em>.</p><p> </p><p>The value of a prevented fatality is used in the appraisal for every infrastructure investment business case. It is also used in the Impact Assessments for relevant policy interventions. For example, the Impact Assessment on the new drug driving offence takes account of the value of preventing a fatality in assessing the overall impact of the offence. I am striving to get this balance right and will make an announcement on this matter later this year.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>I believe that telematics technology has the potential to both increase road safety and reduce young driver insurance premiums. That is why my Department plans to undertake further research on this issue shortly. The findings should help to inform future Government policy in this area.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>I expect the findings of the recent focus group research with parents, young people and employers to be finalised shortly. Once finalised, it will be published within the standard 12 week period that applies to all Government social research.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p> </p><p>As far as the Department's records show, there have been no ministerial meetings with the China Development Bank whilst on multi-modal overseas visits to China. Nor do Ministers' diaries record any meetings with the China Development Bank.</p><p> </p><p>With respect to officials, we have focussed on those most likely to have contact with an organisation such as the China Development Bank. It would appear from the records that no officials from the Department for Transport's International Co-operation and Better Regulation Division, High Speed Rail Group or International Rail have met with the China Development Bank.</p><p> </p><p>There have been no inward delegations from the China Development Bank to the Department for Transport.</p><p> </p><p>HS2 Ltd have had no meetings with China Development Bank.</p><p> </p><p>In the course of compiling this response, we have not identified any correspondence with the China Development Bank.</p><p> </p> more like this
