Raw cannabis has no established medicinal or therapeutic benefits in the UK and so it is listed as a Schedule 1 drug under the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001, and consequently subject to strict control restrictions.</p><p> </p><p>The World Health Organisation’s Expert Committee on Drug Dependence has committed to reviewing the scheduling of cannabis under the United Nation’s 1961 Convention. This is due to consider the therapeutic use, as well as the dependence and the potential to abuse constituent parts of cannabis.
