UK airlines and airports operate in a competitive, commercial environment, and it is for individual airlines to decide what air services they operate based on their assessment of commercial and market conditions. Stobart Air was offered support under the Regional Air Connectivity Fund to set up new routes from Carlisle Airport in 2016. As yet these new routes are not in operation. Candidates or their Nautical College book an examination to fit a study plan. The two public telephone lines were set up in May 2015 and provide customers with a translation service. The third telephone line is used exclusively by the motor trade and is not available to the general public.</p><p> </p><p>The total amount of income for the three telephone lines for the financial year 2016-17 was £798k.
