In April, the Government announced reforms to the police’s use of stop and search to ensure that this measure is used fairly, effectively and with the support of local communities. When stop and search is misused, it is a waste of police time and undermines police and community relations, making the job of policing more difficult. The voluntary Best Use of Stop and Search Scheme, and other measures announced, are designed to reduce the number of stop and searches and promote the proper and effective use of this power. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/11/2014 answer text <p /> <p>The Government regards illegal tobacco sales as damaging to health and to public revenue and is keen to ensure that those who offend are brought to justice.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The number of prosecutions and convictions for the illicit sale of tobacco under the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 can be viewed in the table.</p><p> </p><p>Following the rise in the legal age limit to buy tobacco from 16 to 18 years in 2007, the number of prosecutions brought against retailers rose sharply. This is why there has been a year on year increase in the amount of financial penalties collected over the last three years.</p><p> </p><p>HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) started to pilot the use of data from HM Revenue and Customs in fine collection in July 2014, albeit for a number of specifically targeted cases.
