answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/02/2018 answer text <p>The latest published figures for the Trained Strength for the Royal Navy Submarine Service show that there were 830 Officers and 3,150 Ratings. Of these there are 430 Officers and 2,100 Ratings assigned to engineering branches within the Submarine Service. The number of engineers available at any one time will be determined by such factors as leave and training requirements.</p><p>All totals are rounded in accordance with the Defence Statistics rounding policy; therefore totals may not equal the sum of their parts.
