answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/04/2019 answer text <p>Protecting UK businesses from cyber attacks is a key priority within the Government’s National Cyber Security Strategy 2016-2021.</p><p> </p><p>The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) works with a wide range of partners to provide advice and support to businesses and organisations across the UK, enabling them to put measures in place to protect against cyber attacks. Up to date guidance - such as the Small Business Guide for SMEs - is freely available on NCSC’s website and is underpinned by NCSC’s insights into cyber threats. The NCSC has also published its Board Toolkit to help company boards better understand cyber security.</p><p> </p><p>Government continues to engage with businesses of all types and through multiple channels to raise awareness of cyber security best practice. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/10/2018 answer text <p>The Cyber Breaches Survey 2018 reported that, of the 5.7 million businesses in the UK, nine per cent of all businesses were aware of the Cyber Essentials scheme. This level rising to 23 per cent within medium sized firms and 37 per cent in large firms. The Cyber Essentials scheme provides the basic controls all organisations should implement to protect themselves against the most common internet based threats. The scheme is part of the broader suite of Government guidance and support on cyber security.
