answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/04/2019 answer text <p>Coroners are independent judicial office holders and, as such, it would not be appropriate for Ministers to interfere in their decisions.</p><p> </p><p>Following the judgment of the Administrative Court in R (Adath Yisroel Burial Society) v Senior Coroner for Inner North London (2018) EWHC 969 (Admin), the Chief Coroner issued guidance to coroners on handling urgent decisions, including those concerning faith issues. question text	To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they intend to consult the Chief Coroner about extending the remit of coroners to cover unusual numbers of deaths certified by individual GPs or in specific medical establishments.

By April 2019 the Government is planning to introduce a system of medical examiners in England who will review the certification of deaths not referred to the coroner.
