The Government has commissioned and supports several business-led, independent reviews on promoting diversity, including the Hampton-Alexander Review to increase the representation of women on boards and in senior leadership positions in FTSE 350 companies to 33% by 2020 and the Parker Review to increase the ethnic diversity of FTSE 350 boards by 2024.</p><p>These reviews form part of the Government’s modern Industrial Strategy which aims to build an economy that works for all.</p><p>The statistics recently published by the Hampton-Alexander Review on 1<sup>st</sup> July, show that the business-led approach to creating more balanced boards is working, as the representation of women on FTSE 100 boards has risen to 32.1% from 12.5% in 2011. The number of all-male boards across the FTSE 350 is also down to four from 152 in 2011. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/07/2019 answer text <p>The Government works closely with the retail sector both through bilateral engagement and also through the EU Exit Panel.</p><p> </p><p>This Panel, of which a number of key supermarkets are members, brings Government and the sector together to understand the sector’s issues as we near the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.</p><p> </p><p>Figures from the Office of National Statistics show retail sales figures for spending in predominantly food stores show a growth of 1.9% in the three months to May, compared with the same period in 2018.</p><p> </p><p>On 28 November 2018, Her Majesty's Government released a detailed economic assessment of the effect of multiple EU Exit scenarios on the strength of all parts of the UK economy. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/07/2019 answer text <p>The Government has set up a cross Whitehall skills group to review the construction skills shortage and the effect of a reduction in migrant workers in a no deal outcome. The analysis highlighted the effects of the government’s current training efforts and improved uptake on digital and offsite construction and the impact it would have on the construction skills shortage. CITB’s Construction Skills Network forecasts that the construction industry will need to fill 168,500 jobs between now and 2023. If construction continued to grow at the current rate of 1.1% – the average growth rate for the last five years – to 2030 this would increase to just over 250,000 jobs to fill by 2025, and 410,000 by 2030.</p><p> </p><p>Government will focus on high skills to prioritise those migrant workers who bring in the most benefit to the UK, including the 7% of EU nationals working in UK construction to maximise the benefits of immigration through a single skills-based system. Government is therefore committed to engaging with industry on the Immigration White Paper over the coming year to shape the details of the final policy and processes; and we are introducing measures to increase skills and apprenticeships through the Construction Sector Deal which aims to transform the productivity of the sector.</p><p> </p><p>The deal sets an industry-led target of increasing the number of apprenticeships starts to 25,000 per annum by 2020. Other measures include £34m investment in the Construction Skills Fund, to establish 20 onsite training hubs by 2020; an improved careers portal for the sector (through CITB’s GoConstruct), to help improve diversity of recruitment; work with industry to ensure sufficient high-quality work placements are available for the introduction of construction T Levels in 2020; and using public procurement to help drive investment in construction skills.</p> answering member printed Lord Henley question first answered 03/07/2019 16:38:53 answering member 2616 label Biography information for Lord Henley

This assessment remains valid.</p><p>The UK and the EU share a strong commercial interest in maintaining the competitiveness of our automotive industries, which rely on highly integrated and sophisticated just in time supply chains. The Welsh Government, the Wales Office, Department for Business, Energy &amp; Industrial Strategy and the Department for International Trade came together with the company, local leaders, unions and Bridgend County Borough Council for the first meeting of the Ford Bridgend Taskforce on 1 July.</p><p>Jointly sponsored by Welsh Government Minister for Economy and Transport Ken Skates and my rt. hon.
