<p>The UK closed the British Embassy in Damascus in 2012 and has no plans to re-open it. The UK's position is unchanged; the Assad regime has lost its legitimacy due to its atrocities against the Syrian people. We urge the regime to engage seriously in the political process established by UN Security Council Resolution 2254 to bring lasting and inclusive peace to Syria.</p>
