<p>The Government welcomes overseas investment which champions enterprise and innovation
and supports jobs and growth. Ministers have powers to intervene in mergers, regardless
of sector, that raise public interest considerations relating to national security,
financial stability and media plurality. The Government will continue to keep these
powers under review.</p><p> </p><p>Earlier this year, the Government published a White
Paper, National Security and Investment, setting out its proposals for new powers
to ensure that investments and acquisitions cannot undermine our national security.
The public consultation runs until 16 October.</p>
