answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/11/2015 answer text <p>The previous Government ring-fenced nearly £40 million – £10 million per year – of stable funding up until 2015 for specialist local domestic and sexual violence support services, rape crisis centres, the national domestic violence helplines and stalking helpline. This funding has been extended until April 2016 and includes part-funding for 144 Independent Domestic Violence Advisers (IDVAs) and 87 Independent Sexual Violence Advisers (ISVAs).</p><p>The Home Office supports these roles through training and awareness-raising, including for the majority of IDVAs and ISVAs who are employed by local authorities and third sector organisations.</p><p>We recognise the importance of specialist support services and are working with voluntary sector partners and local commissioners to assess coverage and need for these specialist advisers.</p> answering member constituency Staffordshire Moorlands answering member printed Karen Bradley question first answered 23/11/2015 16:55:32 answering member 4110 label Biography information for Dame Karen Bradley

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/11/2015 answer text <p>The previous Government signed the Istanbul Convention in June 2012 and this Government remains committed to its ratification.</p><p>The UK already complies with the vast majority of the articles through our comprehensive work to protect women and girls from violence, including criminalising forced marriage as required by the Convention. However, primary legislation will be required to comply with the extra-territorial jurisdiction provisions in Article 44 of the Convention before ratification. The Government is liaising with the devolved administrations about ratification, including any further legislative steps necessary.</p><p>The Government takes its international commitments very seriously and will only commit to such ratification when we are absolutely satisfied that we comply with all articles.
