answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/07/2016 answer text <p>The Home Office has collected information from police forces in England and Wales on the number of hate crimes recorded by the police since 2011/12. Data for religious hate crime and total crime measured across the five monitored strands (religion, race, sexual orientation, disability and transgender) are given in the attached table.</p><p>Data for 2015/16 are due to be published in October 2016.</p><p>As stated by the Office for National Statistics, action taken by police forces to improve their compliance with the National Crime Recording Standard has led to improved recording of crime over recent years, especially for violence against the person offences. Together with a greater awareness of hate crime, and improved willingness of victims to come forward, this is likely to be a factor in the increase in hate crimes recorded by the police shown in the table.</p><p>This Government is committed to tackling hate crime. The UK has one of the strongest legislative frameworks in the world to tackle hate crime. This includes updates on the performance of police forces in meeting the Service Level Agreement (SLA) standards for the time taken to complete local disclosure checks.</p><p>If police force performance falls below the standard agreed with the DBS, the DBS will work with the force concerned. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/06/2016 answer text <p>Child sexual exploitation (CSE) is a horrendous crime and safeguarding young people from it must be a shared effort. The Home Office leads on the cross-Government response to this crime. This is a top priority for the Department.</p><p>The Home Secretary’s guidance to officials carrying out immigration, asylum and nationality functions is that they must always make a referral to a statutory agency responsible for child protection or child welfare such as the police, the Health Service, or the Children’s Department of a Local Authority, in circumstances that dictate such action is required, such as when there is a potential indicator of harm or when a child is a potential victim of trafficking.</p><p>Section 55 of the Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Act 2009 places a duty on UK Visas and Immigration and Border Force to take account of the need to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in discharging its functions.</p><p>The Home Office expects all of its Arm’s Length Bodies and agencies to follow statutory, and non-statutory, requirements for safeguarding young people.</p> answering member constituency Staffordshire Moorlands answering member printed Karen Bradley question first answered 29/06/2016 13:03:14 answering member 4110 label Biography information for Dame Karen Bradley
