answer text <p>The Department for International Trade (DIT) has a dedicated hydrogen team who, as part of their ongoing work, keep regular assessments of international hydrogen markets under review, including the Australian and German markets. DIT has energy teams in all key hydrogen markets, with the direct purpose of increasing business for UK energy companies, including companies in the hydrogen sector. DIT is in regular discussion with governments overseas to understand where there are opportunities for greater co-operation, and where there are opportunities for closer working, and we will look to capitalise on these.</p><p> </p> more like this

I have asked them to make contact with the Association of Relocation Professionals to initiate a meeting to discuss supporting the relocation of high value jobs to the UK.</p><p>Our country has a proud and hard-won reputation as one of the most open economies and one of the foremost destinations for inward investment in the world. The Department supported 1,449 Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects during the 2019/20 financial year, which created almost 45,000 new jobs and safeguarded a further 8,000.</p> more like this

answer text <p>On 12 December 2020, the Prime Minister announced that the British government will no longer provide any new direct financial or promotional support for the fossil fuel energy sector overseas. This policy will be implemented as soon as possible following the conclusion of the consultation process that was also launched on 12 December.</p><p> </p><p>During the consultation period and ahead of the implementation of the new policy, the government will continue to apply current policy for all in-scope activities including proposals for high carbon projects, with consideration of relevant factors including climate change.</p><p> </p><p>I refer the Hon. Member for Edmonton to my responses to the Hon. Member for Birmingham, Edgbaston on 18 November 2020 (UIN: 91998) and 25 November 2020 (UIN: 118072), which listed the fossil fuel related projects that UK Export Finance is currently considering for 2021, their locations, and the type of fossil fuel involved.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Department for International Trade (DIT) business support enquiry service is current-ly operated under a Memorandum of Understanding with BEIS. This helpline is staffed by 1 SEO, 1 EO and 4 AO’s.</p><p><br>Between 28th December 2020 and 4th January 2021, the enquiry line was closed on the 28th December, operated from 9am to 5pm on 29th - 31st December inclusive, and on the 4th January. From 1st - 3rd January the helpline was an email only service from 9am to 5pm.</p><p><br>The email-based Transition Period Enquiry Service is staffed by 1 Grade 7, 1 SEO, 2 HEOs and 1 EO. Further resource is available from staff based around the globe for op-erational contingency, trained to support the team when demand requires this.</p><p><br>The enquiry line was operated from 9am to 5pm on all days between 28th December and 4th January 2021 inclusive.</p> more like this

Member for Birmingham, Edgbaston on 18 November 2020 (UIN: 91998) are still under consideration by UK Export Finance, and no decisions have been made. An import ban on unsustainable palm oil risks substitution with other oils which typically require significantly more land to produce and may lead to greater deforestation. We continue to work with producer countries to tackle the underlying issues of deforestation, biodiversity loss, and climate change. Last month, the Government tabled a new ‘due diligence’ requirement under the Environment Bill to tackle illegal deforestation.</p> more like this

answer text <p>UK Export Finance (UKEF) concluded its climate change review of the Mozambique Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Project (“the Project”), which considered its potential operational Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, in 2020.</p><p>The review concludes that the Project has used the best available technology to minimise emissions where possible, and these reductions are a result of optimisations to the Project’s Front-End Engineering and Design. As energy is to be generated on site (Scope 1), no Scope 2 emissions are expected from purchased electricity.</p><p>The Project’s Scope 3 emissions are produced predominantly by the use of the Project’s LNG.</p><p>The Project will report annually on its Scope 1 and 2 emissions once it is operational. UKEF will monitor the Project’s environmental, social, and human rights, including its annual reporting on emissions.</p> more like this
