answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/04/2023 answer text <p>While the Government will not be publishing a response to EDM470, the Government is investing £12 billion in Help to Heat schemes to make sure homes are warmer and cheaper to heat. In March we announced up to £1.4 billion allocated to private and social homes as part of the next phases of the Home Upgrade Grant and Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.</p><p> </p><p>The Powering Up Britain Energy Security Plan sets out how the Government will power the UK through affordable, home-grown, clean energy: ensuring Britain has among the cheapest wholesale electricity prices in Europe by 2035 and moving towards energy independence through a potential doubling of Britain’s electricity generation capacity by the late 2030s.</p><p> </p><p>As set out in the Autumn Statement, the Government is developing a new approach to consumer protection in energy markets, which will apply from April 2024 onwards.</p> answering member constituency Beverley and Holderness answering member printed Graham Stuart question first answered 27/04/2023 15:27:31 answering member 1482 label Biography information for Graham Stuart

The Energy Price Guarantee (EPG) will save a typical household in Great Britain £900 this Winter. In addition, families with disabled children are entitled to a one-off £150 Disability Cost of Living Payment. The Government is currently reviewing the EPG. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/11/2022 answer text <p>Ofgem, as the independent energy regulator, uses the price control process to set the amount that Network Operators can spend and the returns they can make on investment, in a way that allows the funding needed for a more resilient, low-carbon network while protecting consumers from excessive costs. The Government engages regularly with Ofgem, the network companies and stakeholders, including consumer interest groups, throughout the development of the price controls.
