Costs for network investment are recovered through electricity bills over a period of 45 years. The previous price control, covering the period between 2015 and 2023, enabled over £24bn of Distribution Network Operator expenditure. This is in line with guidance from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.</p><p> </p><p>Emissions from UK oil and gas extraction are accounted for in our legally-binding carbon budgets. This includes projected future emissions from new licensing rounds. The total capacity of the additional links between Scotland and the rest of Great Britain is 6.8GW.
