We are focusing on the immediate and critical issues for these industries. As the Queen’s Speech set out, we will be bringing forward an Agriculture Bill to set the framework for the future of the farming industry. We are already engaging extensively as we draw up our future plans and will continue to do so. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/01/2017 answer text <p>Year on year food prices have continued to fall, with a 2% fall over the last 12 months, according to the most recent official Consumer Prices Index (CPI) figures released on 13 December. General inflation is 1.2 per cent, up from 0.9 per cent in October. Food prices rose by 0.4% in the month to November 2016. However, overall, food prices have fallen by 7% since their peak in February 2014.</p><p> </p><p>Commodity prices, exchange rates and oil prices are known to be the most important drivers of retail food price inflation.</p><p> </p><p>This Government is committed to tackling poverty and disadvantage and to delivering real social reform, and we believe that economic growth and employment offer the best route to give people a better future. Household spend on food by households with the lowest 20% income is included in the Living Cost of Food Survey (LCFS) and has remained constant at around 16.5% for a number of years. In addition the RPA is investigating new queries it has received.</p><p> </p><p>For BPS 2016, the RPA announced that over 68,200 farmers in England have now received a 2016 Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) payment. The RPA is investigating new queries it has received and is currently reviewing 2,539 of these.</p><p>We understand how important BPS payments are to farmers and we’re working hard to get money into bank accounts. We’ve agreed that BPS 2016 payments for certain claimants whose 2015 claims are still being reviewed, such as some types of common land claims, should not be held up.
