HMRC has arrangements in place to ensure that no parents miss out financially as a result of these issues. Where parents have missed out on Tax-Free Childcare payments, HMRC pay compensation to reimburse them for missed government top-ups. We do not have an estimate of the hourly earnings of those women. https://www.ons.gov.uk/employmentandlabourmarket/peopleinwork/employmentandemployeetypes/articles/familiesandthelabourmarketengland/2017</p><p> </p><p>Economic evidence from both the UK and internationally shows a positive effect of reduced childcare costs on female labour market participation.
