answer text
As a result of COVID-19, there has been a severe impact on referral-to-treatment waiting times for providers across Barking, Havering and Redbridge, as with many across the country. NHS England and NHS Improvement are working closely with providers to put a robust strategy in place and all acute providers are working together closely to maximise capacity across north east London boroughs.

There is a plan in place to significantly reduce the current number of people waiting over the remainder of 2020/21, and this includes a monthly trajectory from the Phase Three response, with a focus on key specialties such as acute pain, trauma and orthopaedic surgery, urology and neurosurgery.
more like this

answer text
The Department, in consultation with the devolved administrations and Crown Dependencies, is working with trade bodies, product suppliers, and the health and care system in England to make detailed plans to help ensure continued supply of medicines and medical products, including medical radioisotopes and over-the-counter medicines, to the whole of the United Kingdom at the end of the transition period in all scenarios.

The Department understands that a flexible approach to preparedness may be required for medicines that cannot be stockpiled, such as some medical radioisotopes. answer text
The number of patients who completed Referral-To-Treatment pathways between March and June 2020 was down 44% in England on the same period last year. For patients seen at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Wirral Community NHS Foundation Trust and The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust, the effect was slightly larger, with a drop of 46% for the period March to June 2020 compared with the same period last year.

On 31 July further guidance was issued to local National Health Service providers and commissioners on outlining the next phase of the NHS response to COVID-19 and concurrent non-COVID-19 activity. The focus is on accelerating the return of non-COVID-19 health services to near-normal levels, including making full use of available capacity between now and winter, whilst also preparing for winter demand pressures.
