answer text <p>A Contract Award Notice in respect of each of the 26 individual contracts entered into by NHS England with independent sector hospital providers has been published on 16 October 2020 by the Official Journal of the European Union. The Notice can be viewed at the following link:</p><p><a href="https://ted.europa.eu/udl?uri=TED:NOTICE:492193-2020:TEXT:EN:HTML" target="_blank">https://ted.europa.eu/udl?uri=TED:NOTICE:492193-2020:TEXT:EN:HTML</a><br> <br> Under the agreement, latest figures show that from 30 March until 30 August 2020 over 967,000 National Health Service patient appointments have taken place within independent facilities. We cannot provide a breakdown of the amounts paid to each independent sector Provider, however, the total for this period is estimated at £1 billion.</p><p>As part of preparing for winter, the Government has provided an additional £3 billion to the NHS. This includes additional funding to the NHS to allow them to continue to use additional hospital capacity from the independent sector, and to maintain the Nightingale hospitals, in their current state, until the end of March 2021.</p>
