answer text <p>The adoption of this measure is an existing obligation under 1071/2009. The effect for the UK will be low as existing monitoring of operators by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) already takes into account frequency of minor offences when recommending if the competent authority should commence an action regarding the repute of an operator. The UK is content with the regulation but has questioned the practicality of the implementation date of January 2016.</p> more like this

answer text <p>All customer facing rail staff and managers are required to receive disability awareness training relevant to all disabilities. It is for the industry to decide on the detailed content of the syllabus, but an overview of this training should be submitted to the Office of Rail Regulation annually. We will also intend to commission research on developing good practice guidance on disability awareness training for rail, taxi and bus staff which will address all disabilities, particularly cognitive impairments such as autism.</p> more like this

answer text <p>There are no plans to introduce compulsory eyesight tests for drivers.</p><p> </p><p>All drivers are required by law to ensure that they are able to read a number plate from 20 metres and have a visual acuity of at least 6/12 (decimal 0.5), as measured on the Snellen chart. Corrective lenses can be worn if needed.</p><p> </p><p>The Department makes the eyesight standards for driving clear in its leaflets, forms and on GOV.UK. The Department also supports the NHS’ recommendation that adults should have their eyes tested every two years. The advice was also promoted through a communication campaign in 2013, supported by the British Medical Association, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and Brake.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

Those principles included maximising the economic benefits to the UK and in particular supporting exports by improving international links.
