The Home Office does not return refugees. If they have been found to require protection
they are granted leave to remain in the UK on this basis. It is only when a person
does not qualify for protection that they are required to leave the UK.

This
would only happen after full consideration of the person’s claim and the exhaustion
of any appeal rights. The consideration of each claim is done on an individual, case-specific
basis and with each decision taken against the background of up-to-date country of
origin information and any relevant caselaw.
