answer text <p>The waiting time for appointments differs between the premium service centres, depending on the volume of applicants. In some locations appointments are available immediately. The Croydon centre is the busiest of the centres and the waiting time for appointments is currently three weeks.</p><p>The majority of applications are decided on the day of the appointment.</p> more like this

answer text <p>No one who has contacted the Department’s Taskforce for Windrush has subsequently experienced immigration enforcement action as a result of coming forward. We are very clear that information to taskforce will not be passed for enforcement.</p><p>As at 17 May 2018, 7 individuals who have contacted the Windrush Taskforce, have also been identified as being wanted in connection to an on-going criminal investigation and have been referred to the Police. How the Police then decided to handle the matter is for them, and not something that the Taskforce are involved in, as it is not related to an immigration matter.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government is clear that where the Windrush generation have suffered loss, they will be compensated and the Home Office is setting up a new scheme to deliver this, which will be overseen by an Independent Person.</p><p>The compensation scheme for those of the Windrush generation that might have been affected is in the process of being established. The call for evidence for that scheme ended on 8 June and the Home Office are now preparing to launch the next stage of consultation, working with affected communities. The scheme will be set up as soon as possible after we have consulted on the design and scope of what should be included.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Taskforce consists of approximately 150 staff, who have been seconded from a number of areas of UKVI, including Premium Service Centre, Citizenship, Work and Study commands. answer text <p>Immigration detention decisions are made under powers in Schedules 2 and 3 to the Immigration Act 1971, section 62 of the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002 or section 36 of the UK Borders Act 2007.</p><p>All decisions to detain are taken on the basis of a careful consideration of the individual circumstances of the case in question. Published Home Office policy is clear that there is a presumption in favour of liberty. Where a person is detained for the purpose of removal there must be a realistic prospect of removal within a reasonable period of time.</p> more like this
