answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/07/2019 answer text <p>The Government’s continued commitment to the Northern Powerhouse, and the North’s vital role in improving the country’s health and productivity, is reflected in the Prime Minister’s recent decision to make the Minister for the Northern Powerhouse and Local Growth a joint appointment between the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government, and the devolution agreement giving Greater Manchester responsibility for their own £6 billion budget for health and social care services. This builds on the commitment at Autumn Budget 2018 to refresh the Northern Powerhouse Strategy.</p><p>The Strategy will be developed across Government and in partnership with external stakeholders, including mayoral combined authorities, Local Enterprise Partnerships and civic and business leaders, to ensure the whole of the North of England benefits from Government investment with a clear plan to improve quality of life, productivity and prosperity. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/07/2019 answer text <p>To compensate for the lower levels of statutory funding children’s hospices receive, NHS England provided £11 million in 2018/19 through the Children’s Hospice Grant, which is awarded and administered annually.</p><p> </p><p>On 1 July 2019, NHS England announced that it would increase its funding of children’s hospices to £25 million by 2023/24. This replaces the previous commitment to additional funding which required clinical commissioning groups (CCG) match funding. Instead NHS England has now guaranteed the additional investment for hospices.</p><p>NHS England has also committed that where palliative care is provided by means other than through hospices, it will run a needs assessment to understand whether additional investment is required nationally or from CCGs.</p><p> </p><p>Levels of National Health Service-funded hospice care provision are determined locally by CCGs, which are responsible for ensuring healthcare services are commissioned to meet the needs of local populations. Initially, existing diagnostic testing will continue to be performed alongside WGS testing where clinically appropriate. This will include reviewing any tests that may be retired or replaced by more modern technology, such as WGS. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/07/2019 answer text <p>The Department uses two main routes to engaging legal support.</p><p>- The Department’s Anti-Fraud Unit (AFU) engages external law firms through the Civil Litigation and Arbitration in Medicines and Pharmaceuticals Framework, as well as the Government Legal Department (GLD). The AFU utilises a case management system in order to differentiate between individual cases and checks are conducted against invoices and supporting documents submitted by each law firm, including GLD, to ensure these are reflective of their instructions.</p><p> </p><p>- Other business areas within the Department consult with the GLD on the resources available and should they not have the capacity then they will a conduct a competition for other Legal service providers using the Crown Commercial Services framework contract.
