answer text <p>The UK has an allocation of up to 1668 annual and 5040 short-term ECMT permits available for 2021.</p><p> </p><p>It is not the Government’s intention to rely solely on ECMT permits for market access.</p><p> </p><p>ECMT permits would only ever be used to supplement wider market access arrangements, either under an EU-wide agreement or a series of bilateral agreements with EU Member States.</p><p> </p><p>An application window for ECMT permits was open from 2 November 2020 until 20 November 2020. Permits have not yet been allocated; we will take account of the latest negotiations before doing so.</p> more like this

answer text <p>EU licences will continue to be recognised in the UK during the transition period, and vice versa. This means that motorists visiting the UK or the EU will not require an International Driving Permit, and vice versa.</p><p> </p><p>Arrangements after the transition period will depend on the outcome of negotiations with the EU. The UK Government will work with its European partners to minimise any extra burden on motorists after the transition period, as this is advantageous for both the UK and the EU. 24 of the 27 EU Member States have already stated that they will continue to recognise UK photocard licences in all circumstances.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this
