<p>The Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) is a Government research body providing
anonymised health data for the purposes of public health studies and clinical research.
The CPRD receives de-identified patient data from general practices and anonymised
data from other sources such as NHS Digital, all of which are further anonymised in
accordance with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) Anonymisation Code of
Practice.</p><p>Requests for the CPRD’s data are subject to a risk assessment process
and research proposals are reviewed by an Independent Scientific Advisory Committee
before data are released to researchers, to ensure that the data remain anonymised
in line with the ICO code and that patient confidentiality is safeguarded.</p>
