As a result of our £80m investment in smart ticketing, passengers now have an alternative to the paper ticket across almost all of the network, making buying and using their ticket significantly more convenient. Later this year more options will become available, including travel across different operators. We are currently investigating the details of how best to deliver a PAYG scheme. We also want to consider wider developments in Government such as the Williams Rail Review to deliver a more consistent PAYG scheme that is flexible and convenient for passengers as well as providing good value for taxpayers’ money.
