It is a fundamental freedom which underpins many other human rights. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/01/2018 answer text We regularly raise our concerns about the rights to freedom of expression, association and assembly with the Egyptian authorities; these rights are essential to improving the protection of Freedom of Religion or Belief in Egypt. The Egyptian constitution contains protections for Freedom of Religious Belief and it is important that these rights are respected. In particular, we welcome President Sisi's consistent calls for peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims in Egypt. The UK has also been working with al-Azhar University in Egypt for over ten years to help develop a new generation of religious leaders who can build dialogue across different cultures and religions, and confront extremism. This included the ongoing conflict in Yemen, and the Foreign Secretary stressed the importance of addressing the humanitarian crisis and refocusing the political track. He also strongly condemned the Houthi missile attack on Riyadh on 19 December 2017. Our Special Envoy for Gender Equality visited Egypt in September 2017 and met Parliamentarians, civil society representatives and business leaders. Our Ambassador and other officials regularly meet with the Egyptian Government’s National Council for Women. We have deployed a Regional Gender Adviser to our Embassy in Cairo, who co-chairs a Gender and Development working group. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/01/2018 answer text <p>Through our Embassy in Baghdad and Consulate-General in Erbil we consistently urge the Government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government to ensure the safe, voluntary and unhindered return of all Internally Displaced Persons, including Yazidis, supported by the prospect of genuine community reconciliation. I raised this issue with the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office during my visit to Iraq in September 2017 and the Prime Minister did so with Prime Minister Abadi during her visit to Iraq on 29 November 2017. On 2 January, officials from our Embassy in Tel Aviv raised this case with the Israeli authorities, noting the British Government's long-standing concerns about the treatment of Palestinian minors in Israeli military detention. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/01/2018 answer text <p>The UK is determined to eliminate the scourge of forced labour, modern slavery and human trafficking. The Government works closely with the Libyan Government and takes all allegations of abuse seriously. During his visit to Libya in August the Foreign Secretary raised with Prime Minister Serraj the importance of offering humanitarian support to migrants and the need to respect human rights. I also raised our concerns about the human rights situation in Libya, including the issue of slavery, with the Libyan Deputy Prime Minister on 1 December and welcomed the investigation into this issue. The matter was raised in Parliament in a debate on 18 December in Westminster Hall, which I answered, setting out the UK position.
