<p>Responsibility for commissioning some sexual health services, including contraception, transferred from the NHS to local authorities in England in 2013. The Government recognises and appreciates the excellent work that authorities have done since then but after six years it is prudent to take stock of whether the system is delivering as effectively as it needs to in providing integrated services. We will work with stakeholders to make sure we take relevant evidence into account before reaching any conclusions. We will publish the outcome of our considerations later this year and consult as necessary on specific proposals for change.</p>
