<p>Local authorities are responsible for improving the health of their local population
and reducing health inequalities by assessing local need and commissioning services
to meet identified needs, including drug dependence.</p><p> </p><p>In the current
financial year, local authorities are receiving a £3.215 billion public health grant
for their public health duties for all ages. Information about the 2018-19 grant,
how it breaks down and indicative public health allocations for each local authority
