question text To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, whether it is the Government's policy that victims in Northern Ireland of the infected blood scandal deserve as a matter of urgency the same financial recognition as those in Scotland, England and Wales due to the scandal having taken place under direct rule; and if she will meet representatives from Haemophilia Northern Ireland to discuss their concerns. more like this

answer text
I am happy to confirm that The Infected Blood Inquiry is UK-wide and includes Northern Ireland. The contaminated blood scandal was an appalling tragedy and I urge all victims from Northern Ireland, or family members of victims, to engage with the Public Inquiry and I acknowledge the work of Haemophilia Northern Ireland to support some of those affected to do this. The Inquiry terms of reference include consideration of the question of financial assistance, including for those in Northern Ireland.

more like this

answer text
EU Exit affects a number of work areas across the Department and will therefore encompass a proportion of workload for many staff, the amount of which will vary over time. Many of the same staff spend a proportion of their time preparing for leaving the EU (a) with and (b) without a deal. Those proportions vary continuously over time, so calculating a specific allocation would be disproportionately difficult.

more like this

answer text
The Northern Ireland Office works closely with Tourism NI and the rest of Northern Ireland government departments to ensure that the work to highlight Northern Ireland as a great place to invest provides them with the support that they want. I am a former Tourism Minister myself, and the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland regularly promotes inward investment to Northern Ireland, such as on her visit to the United States in September of last year.
more like this
