answer text <p>All 15 DCMS-sponsored museums and galleries, and the British Library, have free access to their permanent collections. They are:</p><p> </p><ul><li>the British Museum</li><li>the Geffrye Museum</li><li>the Horniman Museum and Gardens</li><li>the National Gallery</li><li>the National Portrait Gallery</li><li>the National Maritime Museum (Royal Museums Greenwich)</li><li>the Sir John Soane’s Museum</li><li>the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&amp;A) including the V &amp; A Museum of Childhood, and</li><li>the Wallace Collection, which all based in London, and;</li><li>the British Library, based in London and Boston Spa</li><li>the Imperial War Museum, based in London and Manchester</li><li>the Natural History Museum, based in London and Tring</li><li>National Museums Liverpool, which includes the Museum of Liverpool, the World Museum, the Walker Art Gallery, the Merseyside Maritime Museum, Seized! The Border and Customs uncovered, the International Slavery Museum, the Lady Lever Art Gallery and Sudley House</li><li>the Royal Armouries, based in Leeds, Fort Nelson, Hampshire and The White Tower in the Tower of London</li><li>the Science Museum Group, which includes the Science Museum based in London and Wroughton, the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester, the National Railway Museum in Shildon and York, and the National Media Museum in Bradford, and</li><li>the Tate, which includes Tate Modern and Tate Britain based in London and Tate Liverpool based in Liverpool.</li></ul><p> </p><p>In addition, free entry is available at museums funded by Arts Council England and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
