answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/09/2014 answer text <p> </p><p>The UK Atomic Energy Authority manages the UK’s fusion research programme at the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, and operates JET, the European fusion research facility, under a 285 million euro contract from the European Commission. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/09/2014 answer text <p> </p><p>The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills had received complaints about Erudio Student Loans Limited from 38 loan holders (or their elected representatives) as at 31<sup>st</sup> July 2014.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><ul><li>Twelve of these did not specify their location.</li><li>Of the remaining 26, 15 were from (or about) loan holders in England, of which one was in Greater Manchester.</li></ul><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Office of Fair Trading was closed on 1<sup>st</sup> April 2014 and its responsibilities in relation to consumer credit passed to the Financial Conduct Authority. The Financial Conduct Authority does not investigate individual complaints. The Financial Ombudsman Service is a free, independent service for settling disputes between financial services firms and their customers, which can deal with complaints about a wide range of financial matters.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Erudio has been notified of five complaints received by the Financial Ombudsman Service as at 31<sup>st</sup> July 2014. None of these was from loan holders in Greater Manchester.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Mortgage style student loans are regulated loans under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 (as amended). Terms and conditions are specified in the Education (Student Loans) Regulations 1998 and in borrowers’ loan credit agreements. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/09/2014 answer text <p>This Government has been very clear about the importance of widening participation and improving fair access in higher education – all those with the ability should have access to higher education, irrespective of family income.</p><p>In April we published the new <em>National strategy for access and student success. </em>It will help to ensure that all those with the potential to benefit from higher education have equal opportunity to participate and succeed. Our reforms and new funding methodology have ensured that institutions are investing significantly in widening student access to higher education. Through their access agreements with the Office for Fair Access, institutions plan by 2018/19 to increase their spending on outreach, student success and student financial support measures to £735 million, up from £444 million in 2011/12.</p><p>Similarly it is important that young people and adults from disadvantaged groups are able to access good quality further education and skills training to help them to find employment, participate in their local community and to lead a more independent life.</p><p>We provide ‘Learning Support’ funding to colleges and providers to help people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. We support unemployed people into work by funding units and qualifications in vocational skills, and we fully fund all adults to achieve their first English and maths GCSE. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/09/2014 answer text <p>The Government is rebuilding, rebalancing and growing the economy to ensure that all university leavers in all parts of the country are given the opportunity to achieve their potential.</p><p>The economic plan is working, with over two million more private sector jobs and 400,000 more businesses.</p><p>To enable students to take advantage of these opportunities we are increasing the information available to them through the Key Information Set. This increase will apply to all rates of maintenance loan, including the higher rate loan for students living away from home and studying in London, where living costs (including those for accommodation) are generally higher.</p><p>Decisions on student support arrangements for higher education courses are taken on an annual basis.
